Possible Skin Conditions

In the adult, the conditions that can affect the areas of the genitals and the anus can be a delicate subject, such as those conditions that are the result of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Herpes and syphilis can cause the skin to wear away and even cause open sores. In men, gonorrhea and chlamydia can cause a discharge from the penis and pain with urination. Genital warts and molluscum contagiosum are caused by a virus, and in these conditions lesions can from in any area around the penis and the anus. Pubic lice, sometimes known as "crabs", live in the pubic hair and cause itchy bites. It is important to note that not all conditions affecting the anus and genitals are sexually transmitted, however. Jock itch (tinea cruris) is a common rash caused by a fungus.
